[Midpoint-dev] Midpoint 3.5 error

Hello Pete,

actually, the task based import works very well. There is almost no
difference between importing a user manually through GUI and importing
users via import task.

The error you see (No name in new object ...) is most probably due to
wrong configuration of mappings in templates and/or resource objects.
Basically it says that midPoint was configured to create an object -
most probably a user - without name, which is not allowed. So, what you
are missing, is some mapping that would provide the name.

I don't know how much information you have on midPoint yet. But let me
propose you some sources of information:

 1. *The midPoint book* that provides very useful background information
on midPoint and how to use it:
    https://evolveum.com/midpoint/midpoint-guide-about-practical-identity-management/
 2. Our *wiki*, in particular pages about:
     1. templates:
        https://wiki.evolveum.com/display/midPoint/Object+Template
     2. mappings:
        https://wiki.evolveum.com/display/midPoint/Mappings+and+Expressions
     3. focus and projections:
        https://wiki.evolveum.com/display/midPoint/Focus+and+Projections
     4. troubleshooting:
         1. https://wiki.evolveum.com/display/midPoint/Usual+Troubleshooting+Steps
         2. https://wiki.evolveum.com/display/midPoint/Troubleshooting+Mappings

But I'd certainly start with the book.

If you'd have any question, don't hesitate to contact the list again.
But I would suggest using midpoint at lists.evolveum.com instead of
midpoint-dev. The latter one is for developers, and is currently almost
unused. The midpoint list has (I think) much broader audience.

Best regards,
Pavol Mederly
