[midPoint] Question about Uid

I am trying to write a custom connector. But I am not quite clear how the Uid is generated and used. I know that the Uid matches to a unique object in the resource. My guess is that the Uid should be generated during the create() method. However, what if I am writing a connector to a resource only has outbound mapping, i.e., that is it only respond to the change to an existing User object?

Should I still implement the CreateOp and generate a UID without creating an object on the connected resource?
