[midPoint] .NET Connector Server

Could not find on wiki so I wanted to verify,

Does the machine that has the .Net connector server running have to be a
"Domain Controller" or can I install it on another server, Domain Joined?

Our DCs are rather slim, regarding installed software, so adding .net 4
alone would kick off a mass amount of windows updates. I would rather
install it on our server that currently runs the IDM sync for Office 365
and Google Apps and has .Net 4 installed already with current updates.
