Hello,

MidPoint project will completely switch to Java 8 very soon. Most likely
next week. Development master will be switched to Java 8, while support
branches will remain on Java 7.

This means that MidPoint 3.5 release will work only in Java 8
environment. With the planned 3.5 release (December 2016) we will
completely drop Java 7 support.

Java 8 is a recommended environment for a long time. Java 7 is more than
5 years old and there are serious issues with Java 7 (e.g. security
patches). Java 7 support was officially deprecated in the last midPoint
release (3.4.1). Therefore it is the right time to make the switch to
Java 8 permanent.
